Used construction steel re-manufacturing and certification

Circular Structural Steel program:

The establishment of a production facility for the re-manufacturing of used construction steel to as-new certified construction steel , replacing high costly newly produced steel.

To this end, the development of a highly robotized production line, as well as a standard-setting certification according to the future DPP guidelines will be made possible.

Our activities

  • Feasibility Study for implementing of a robotic system for the processing ( sorting, inspection, testing, cleaning, cutting) of emerging structural steel from dismantled or demolished buildings into as-new certified reusable construction steel
  • The development of associated test equipment, software and hardware, as well as a tracking and certification program for the Digital Product Passport (DPP).
  • Market research and orientation with regard to both the trade (purchase/sale) and availability of used steel , versus new steel
  • Research of current and future legislation regarding the use of as-new re-manufactured steel (NTA 8713, NEN 1090,CE marking and DoP declaration)
  • Investigating of parties in the steel chain with reargd to decision making, commisioning and appreciation for the actual inclusion of reusable steel as a fully-fledged part of the construction chain ( architects, developers, govenrments, construction companies)
  • consultation with various initiators and bodies at government and businesses ( "Bouwen met Staal", NEN Road Map 2019-2050, "Ketendoorbraakproject"and others)
  • Research into financing opportunities, and willingness of investors and equty providers, subsidy options ("Kansen voor West", PZH)
  •  Setting up a consortium for the realization of the production facility
